I Joined The Hubpages Challenge - or, How To Make Money From Old Rope
I’m sure the phrase “making money from old rope” is universal … it literally means making money out of the least likely thing.
When I am asked what I do, I say “I make money from thin air”, which is pretty much the same thing. So I’m pleased to say I’ve joined the Hubpages Challenge and this month will really crack on and make lots of money from thin air!
What is Hubpages?
Keeping it simple, Hubpages is a completely free website where you can write about anything you want - and get paid for it through a revenue sharing system on the adverts. The money comes through Adsense, Amazon and eBay, but you don’t need to have those accounts before you get started, you can simply start, publish a couple of hugs and see how you get on. Once you see your words in print, then you can look into the money making side of things because you can insert your ID numbers at any time you wish. So don’t let that stop you checking it out.
Many budding authors use Hubpages to practise their writing skills, to gain confidence, before writing their own ebooks, or articles for magazines, or even their first website! It’s a great trial and training ground for the nervous!
Do I Earn Much From Hubpages Then?
Well, yes - proportionately I do! At present I am ashamed to say I only have 35 hubs published. I’ve not done anything special with them, not done any keyword research, not used any special tactics or tricks. I just published and ran. I wrote straight out of my head. A few of them were doing well, so I did go back and add a few more tags and add a bit more detail, but basically I’ve been really lazy with them … so you might be surprised to find out that in adsense alone my few, random, hubpages earn me more than this blog!
So, let’s get that in perspective… 35 articles I wrote (quite badly) on Hubpages, in about 10 minutes each, consistently earn me more in adsense alone than this whole blog that I spend about 6 hours every day on …? Yes. So, if that’s true, why don’t I write more Hubpages …? I know, I know! I know I should! So today I joined the Hubpages Challenge.
What is the Hubpages Challenge?
I have committed to writing 100 new hubs in the next 30 days. That’s not a lot is it. 3/day should take me an hour at the most. Nobody said they had to be rocket science! And they won’t be.
Whatever I write is there, it exists - and in existing each one of those 100 hubs has the potential to earn me money every day “forever”. At the least, if I am going from having 35 hubs to 135 hubs it should mean that I get 4x the earnings from it!
I also don’t need to worry about skimping … I can pop back at any time in the future and fiddle about (er, that’s “improve”) my Hubs! So it’s not a waste if I skimp on a few
Join Me And Join the Hubpages Challenge Too!
Now’s a great time to join hubpages because there are so many people like me trying to hit that magical 100 hubs in 30 days target - so why not join me.
Write about anything! If you write poems, then why not publish them on hubpages? Are you a photographer - why not upload a couple of your pictures and tell people about the camera, or the shoot! Got some favourite family recipes to share? You can find topics everywhere… if you have a website then you can even include a link to it from hubpages, check their rules for over-linking to one website, but they do allow it!
How Do I Join the Hubpages Challenge?
Simply click this link to see a great chilli recipe (yes, you really can write about whatever you like!) and join:
Start creating your hubs. I’d recommend you create your first hub straight away to get the hang of it. Then you’ll see how it works and can start to plan what you’ll write about. It doesn’t have to all be the same subject, you can write 100 hubs about 100 completely different things if you want!
Go on, do it now - join from this link: Join Hubpages
Free Bonus Hubpages Traffic
If you join from my link above and come back here and leave a comment then I’ll put a link in this post to your hubs - that’ll get your traffic started off well. Just let me know your hub username. Thank you. I don’t get paid a commission if you sign up from my link, but Hubpages is a revenue sharing site, so hubpages give me an extra 10% ad impressions.
To follow the Hubpages Challenge, simply add “HubChallenge” to your tags (if you forget you can always go back and do that bit later, you can always add new tags to your hubs). Adding this tag makes no difference whatsoever to anything except it flags up to other Hubbers that you’re in the challenge - which is another thing that is likely to bring you more free traffic to your hub!
That’s it … good luck!
