Are You Leaving Money On the Table When You Use Adsense?

I know a lot of you are here looking for tips and tricks for how to monetize your blog. Well, if you’re using Google Adsense to monetize your blog you’re probably leaving a LOT of money on the table!

Recognise This Below? Or Maybe You’ve Skipped Over it Before ….

Let’s set the scene: you’re logged into your Adsense Account, salivating over how much money this next ad block will make you … you’re choosing your options … eager to grab that code and chuck it on your site…. familiar? Well, that’s me anyway - and I can’t be the ony one!

So, along the way, there are a couple of bits you probably completely miss out. It’s right down there, at the bottom of the second screen.

When you set up your Google Adsense ads, there will be times when they simply don’t have enough adverts to go round. They run out. Maybe it’s 3am, maybe it’s a Saturday morning, but quite often there are simply no adverts to go onto your site. Now, the default option is to show public service adverts: you don’t get paid for these. Another option is to “Fill space with a solid colour” . Then there’s that third option, the one nobody’s really sure about.

If you’re new to Google Adsense, you might not have even really looked at these three options too hard. If you’ve read up about Adsense first, or been advertising a few weeks you might be at the stage where you decide to fill the space with a solid colour… but what IS that third option?

Have you ever clicked on those choices? That second one, when clicked on, asks you for an alternate url.

Now, that sounds like it might make some money in that spare slot when it appears doesn’t it! But how the heck do you use it?

It’s probably on your “To Do List”: find out if I can monetize that. If you’re like me you’ve still not got round to it! Well, here’s the simple answer.

Simply sign up (it’s free, of course), with Alternate URL - then all you need to do is choose the same advert size/layout as your Adsense block and you instantly get a url which you copy/paste into your Google Adsense setup.

There. Easy… now you have more chances to make money from that same advert slot, WITHOUT affecting your Google Adsense earnings!  Genius is what I say.
