Top Jobs Using Your Hidden Talents and Skills!
When people think about being a homeworker, their mind is quite often originally thinking in terms of traditional jobs models. Things like assembly work, envelope stuffing, data entry.
But looking beyond this pie in the sky ideal (any work that exists will have ‘000s of people also wanting it), you need to find something for yourself. Some way of using your hiddent talents, using your skills to make money from home and create your own homeworker job!
So what skills do you have? You might not realise you have them. Here’s a few for you to think about:
- A clear speaking voice. That’s a talent you might not have even thought about. The better you speak, the more likely you are to succeed in home-based jobs involving the telephone. Check out freelance telemarketing and freelance telesales jobs, for example here are 4:
- Do you have an interest in mathematics, statistics and analysis? This is one of my favourites. If you can spot a trend, or analyse data, perhaps you can get work doing accounts for a small company, or perhaps using Excel, or what about doing data entry jobs where companies want lists copy/pasted or compiled from scratch. This can quite often lead on to analysing their data too, I’ve been asked to analyse data before for a company that had 1000 survey returns. Perhaps you could look at work as a freelance virtual assistant, or even freelance data entry jobs which require a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. With a keen interest in numbers, you’ll be keen for any data you collect to be perfect, you’ll see the logic of what you’re trying to achieve and be great at this! - Are you creative? If you’re good at design, then you could look for work as a freelance web designer. Or what about creating illustrations for a book? The world of design might be just the place for you…. check out: Freelance Designer Jobs.
- If you love animals, pet sitting or pet walking might be something you can do in your local area. You can advertise yourself for free online too.
Now, how can you also use those same talents and skills to work for yourself in a more dynamic and exciting way? What about these:
- With a clear speaking voice, you can contact local companies to see if they need telesales staff. Ideal companies for this are those offering goods and services such as double glazing, window blinds, mortgages, loans. These industries rely quite heavily often on telephone canvassers to make them appointments. Alternatively, you can hit the B2B (business to business) market and contact web design companies to make appointments with local businesses for them. You should negotiate an hourly rate plus a commission for an appointment and ideally an extra commission based on any sales they make! You need to be aware of the laws surrounding cold calling though if you’re going to offer this as a service, which basically say you can only call people who are not registered with the Telephone Preference Service, or if you are working from a list, you have to have that list cleansed by somebody comparing it against the TPS. This makes it virtually impossible for people to start this great business for themselves…. until …. I found a great service – and trust me, not many people know about this so you can clean up in your area! You simply sign up for a TPS service from this one company and phone whoever you like, if their number is listed with the TPS then you are just not connected to them and a recording tells you so! - If you are somebody who is interested in statistics or analysing trends, then you’re the sort of person that could turn a normal online income into a phenomenal online income perhaps, either by creating yourself a website or checking out Google Adwords and using your analysis of the traffic and results to know where to focus more effort. I’ve seen incomes really take off once website statistics have been analysed, taking everyday people from about £300/month to over £1500/month within just 1-2 months! Applying yourself to analysing trends and statistics to something you’re doing online could quite literally increase your online earnings by 5x, 10x, 20x even 50x what you were earning at the start! - For the creative people, what about earning money writing small adverts? If you can create great adverts, then maybe you should check out a self-employed role writing adverts for companies that are displayed in Google Adwords. This is more of your own business than a job you do in exchange for money. You pick a series of products to advertise, you write great adverts, place the adverts on Google Adwords and if you’ve picked a good product and you’ve written a great advert, earnings can really be very high. There are tools you can use to pick the best (highest selling) products and other tools you can use to help your adverts perform better. - Love pets, thought about dog sitting or walking, but you really need MORE money than you think that would bring you? What about starting your own pet sitting service and simply find the clients and find people to do the work for you! If you get yourself a website and invite people to apply to be pet sitters or dog walkers, you’ll have a steady supply of eager people! All you need to do then is to find people who want the service, again, your terms and conditions can be on your website, along with your prices and services, so you just have to let people know and pass the word around about your website.
