Get Paid for Writing
There are many ways to work from home and work online earning money from home that seem to involve writing.
So what are some of the options?
Freelance Writers
If you are a writer or want to get into writing, this is most probably the best route for you. As a freelance writer you’re accepting work which might be anything from writing an article for a website, to re-writing a book into better English. Perhaps you can write press releases for companies. There really is no limit to writing jobs working from home that come under the title of Freelance Writers.
An increasingly popular writing job is to produce books for companies for their websites. These are usually introductory guides, or simple How To books. The books are usually a giveaway for their customers and potential customers.
Freelance work is quite straight forward to obtain – and being paid is usually quick and straight forward too. You simply register with a freelance site, then look through their list of jobs. When you spot one you can do, you contact the advertiser to let them know how much you’d charge to do it and what your experience/skills are. If they pick you, then you usually start the job virtually immediately and payment is often guaranteed by the freelance website as they ask the advertiser to lodge the cash up front in an escrow account. So when you’ve done the job and the advertiser has signed it off, money is automatically released to you. It certainly saves all that invoicing and potential chasing for money!
One website I know my friends and website visitors regularly get work from is Get a Freelancer. There is no fee to join this and you don’t have to pay to contact the advertiser and tell them how much you want to do the job.
Forum Posters
Some websites run forums where members can chat or ask questions. I’m sure you’re a member of one or two!
Quite a number of these will pay you to chat. They will pay you to post on the forums or on their website giving your opinion or review.
The reason they can do this is because the advertising on their website earns them money, so they share this with you. If they had 0 website visitors their advertising space would be worth nothing to them, but if they can get, say, 10,000 regular website visitors posting opinions or feedback, reviews or advice, then their site starts to earn money and so they can share it with the people (just like you) that made this happen!
Below are a few of these:
MyLot: This is probably the easiest and most fun to get into. With MyLot you just sign up (free of course) and go through the forums either responding to what others are chatting about, or start your new threads! And there’s every subject under the sun to be discussed.
It’s odd but true to say that you are getting paid to make friends! How great is that? And yes, they do pay out. I’ve done it and I’ve been paid. MyLot has been going quite a while now and has a good following.
The basic rule with any of these things is just to chat away and not keep an eye on any earnings. I did this and then suddenly got a payment through, took me by surprise! Earnings escalate and build up over time. The more you chat on the forums and the longer you stick with it, the better earnings you will see. This could be a great way to earn a bit of extra money whether you’re stuck at home, or working full-time with just half an hour spare per day.
Go on, give MyLot a try today!
I’m glad I did.
Hub Pages: This is another really easy way to earn money and, over the last year I’ve earnt quite a lot from it. Now, under the terms & conditions I am not allowed to show my earnings, so I will just have to let you know that if my top performer from my first dozen short articles is anything to go by, if I stuck to it I could earn £40/hour from this.
But you need to just get up to speed with how this works as that sounds too incredible! What you do is create a hub. That is just a small article about anything you like whatsoever. So my first dozen were pretty random! If you’ve got a particular hobby or interest then you can just write stuff about that, but I don’t have just one interest and was keen to test it out just to see. So I put together about 12 random topics.
Having created the hub, it then ends up on the website and there are adverts beside it. When people go to a search engine searching for information, if they end up on your tiny article and if they click one of the adverts, you earn money. So, if you’re going really slow at it, it can take you 15 minutes to create it. But that’s it. No more work. But every time somebody ends up reading your piece and clicks on an advert, you get paid. Pretty much forever. So over a year, say, each one you write could be worth between £1 and £10 apiece.
This makes it a really interesting concept. You simply sit and write things you are interested in … and hey presto, you get paid! It works on a revenue sharing method. The hub pages site splits the earnings from the advert click with you – and you get paid by Google. So the money’s safe when it comes through because Google are a huge company and they pay out!
Here’s the sort of thing I threw (badly!) together. Yet it still earns me money. Unbelievable. Quick & Easy Microwave Steamed Sponge Pudding
I’d recommend you sign up for Hub Pages now and just get started. Just write out, say, your opinion of a football match you saw over the weekend, or perhaps jot down your mum’s favourite recipe. How about a practical joke? Or where tourists can visit in your local area?
Once you’ve got yourself a few hubs on the go, they provide statistics so you can instantly see which ones are most popular. Once you know which ones are most popular and which pay the most, it’s quite easy to see what you need to be writing about to earn more/most.
Go check it out now. Sign up and think about what to write about first!
