Free Ads, Free Classifieds List - Just Help Yourself
At some point, you have to wonder how the heck you can tell people about your website. Daunting!
Your choices are pretty much one of these:
- Tell nobody, I built it, they’ll come, right?! They might, they might not. My first website went down a storm. The world and his dog visited … it made me loads of money. Now, nearly 2 years on, I’ve still never advertised and it’s still getting 20,000 visitors per month! My next 19 didn’t take off in the same way. I’d paid full attention on the first one to proper keywording. Now I don’t. It was as simple as that. For me, I know that writing good SEO copy will bring in visitors, yet I still fail to do it. The style of this blog is “right out of my head”. I literally am writing it to a friend, you, as if we’re sat in a pub. This style doesn’t make for high SEO results, high rankings … and therefore, high visitors. But this blog makes me happy - so that’s what it’s here for. This blog is about me documenting my finds, for myself mainly and any friends who want to know things. It’ll never set the world alight, probably.
- Post on free classifieds ads websites and cross your fingers. I’ve tried a little bit of this. Yes, I’ve had results and I really should do more of it, but I am still discovering great new ideas, new tools, new things to fiddle with!
- Join a traffic exchange, you visit sites and they visit yours. I’ve joined these, then completely forgotten about them, forgotten to go and visit the sites of others… but they’re easy to do.
- Pay for traffic, from cheap to pricey targetted adverts. If you’re SERIOUS about earning money online, then eventually this is the path you’ll have to take. There’s no point having 1million website visitors if they are 13-17 and your website is promoting expensive gadgets for a Ferrari!
Now, all of the above are valid and at various stages of earning money online, you’ll try them all. What you try depends on what you’re trying to achieve, what your website’s about, your budget … and how much money you want to make.
If you’re still at the first stage, of telling nobody, you might like to move onto the next stage now and post your advert onto free classifieds ads websites. For the record, it’s quite often the case that you’ll spend a lot of time doing this for little traffic rewards. However, you might strike lucky! Maybe you’ve got something everybody’s looking for. Maybe you’ve got a hidden talent in ad-writing skills.

How Do You Advertise?
To get people to spot your advert, you’ll have to create an interesting headline, then tell them the benefit of visiting your website. It’s no good saying “come to my website about rabbits, it’s good”. If you want rabbit lovers to visit, you might write a piece about the biggest rabbit in the world, then you can advertise “See the Biggest Bunny in the World….” it’s a bit more interesting!
